3-Day Gorilla Trek Safari in Kahuzi Biega National Park – Congo (DRC): Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Congo with our 3-day Kahuzi Biega gorilla trekking experience. Located south of Goma, Bukavu is your gateway to the eastern lowland gorillas.
Day 1: Transfer to Kyangugu/Bukavu
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome from our company representative/driver guide, who will accompany you on the scenic 6-7 hour drive from Kigali to Congo. Enjoy a refreshing lunch en route in Butare/Kibuye, and marvel at the breathtaking views of the rainforest as you pass through Nyungwe. Upon arrival in Bukavu, settle into your hotel, Orchids Lodge, and unwind from the journey. Dinner and overnight stay at Orchids Lodge.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Trekking
Fuel up with breakfast at the lodge before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on lowland gorillas. Armed with packed food and water, venture into the park in search of these magnificent creatures. Trekking can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Spend an awe-inspiring hour observing them in their natural habitat before returning to meet your driver. Choose to either stay in Congo or cross back to Rwanda, staying near Nyungwe National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Orchids Lodge or Nyungwe Top View Hotel.
Day 3: Canopy Walk and Return to Kigali
After a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest for a thrilling canopy walk. Take in panoramic views of the park, home to an array of primates, birds, and butterflies. Enjoy lunch in Butare as you make your way back to Kigali city. Your journey concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or Kigali airport for your onward flight, marking the end of an incredible adventure.

An incredible experience! The guides were very knowledgeable and the experience was well managed and organized. We received a detailed safety brief at the outset and learned about the gorillas (and the specific gorilla family) we would be seeing.
